As one of our young campers said, “This isn’t Summer Haven, this is Summer Heaven!”

July 10th, 2008

Dear Duane, Donna, Steve & Nancy,

“My family and my brother’s family just returned from Summer Haven, and I wanted to tell you what an AWESOME week we had! You have a BEAUTIFUL campground there, and all the people were so kind including the workers and the other campers. We truly enjoyed our get-away, and are already talking of returning for a week next summer (maybe even this summer for a weekend)!

Our family had a park model camper at a campground for 14 years, but we sold it about 4 years ago and bought a smaller RV to be able to go to different places to camp. Yours has definitely been the nicest campground we have stayed at. We appreciated all the extra things we could do, and all the care you each take into making it a wonderful place for families.

Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!”

Blessings,

“Summer Haven is a gorgeous park with the tall timbers, pristine grounds and beautiful lakeviews; and the best part for us is that it is relaxing, with the campfire and fishing on Gull Lake.”

To the staff of Summer Haven Resort,

Thank you!!! We had a great weekend. My wife camped at this campground
for many, many years in the mid 80′s through the mid 90′s with her
family and has not been there for nearly 15 years. This past weekend my
wife and I  brought our family now and her parents came back as well.
They used to have nearly 8-10 campers 2 weekends a year and would do
what was known as Christmas in July. In fact we were in site 69 and they
always had a site in the same area and would take all of them up to the
corner towards the garbage site. It brought back fond memories for my
wife and her family. She remembers the hay ride more than anything. It
was a blast and we are trying to figure out when we can get back, with
family and our camping friends. I hope you all enjoyed Tim playing. He
is a great entertainer as you all saw and an even better person. We are
fortunate to see him perform at many functions, but it’s always a great
time!! Thanks again and we will be back.

Thank you,
Brian, Jessica, Logan, McKenna & Brock Burhans

We had a great time even though the weather could have been better so that we could  enjoy all your nice facilities.  It was a nice beach area and pool.  The camping spots were nice and roomy and what a beautiful view of the moon on the lake at night.  Clean and well kept grounds friendly staff and we really enjoyed the entertainment the Singing Cop.

Stolen Anchor Story- August 2009

Dear Paul, Duane & Steve,

This past Wednesday evening I started to prepare my boat for a Thursday morning fishing trip with my dad and a friend south of Bagley.  It quickly became apparent that my fairly expensive anchor was missing from my boat.  As I retraced the steps of the last time I used it I found myself back to Tuesday night July 21, fishing sunnies in the evening on Gull. When we returned back to Summer Haven after a successful night of fishing we emptied the boat, except for the anchor, and tied it up to the dock system knowing that I’d be back the next day.  We were coming back on Wednesday to spend the day at the trailer in hopes of doing some tubing.  Back to this week, I searched everywhere Wednesday evening, even having Patty Hendricks check our sites.  We came to the conclusion that most likely it had been taken from the boat sometime after I left Tuesday night (21st) and when we returned to use it later Wednesday afternoon.  Both Debbie and I were disappointed that someone would take it from our boat, but realized that anything left anywhere is free game no matter where it is.  Yesterday evening I received a call from Patty telling me that her son Bryce had seen an anchor out on the main dock system.  We confirmed it was ours!  Back on Wednesday, July 22 when we finally got out tubing we unloaded the anchor and an extra pedestal seat onto the dock to be picked up when we returned.  Not only were we wrong about someone taking it from our boat, but it actually has been sitting there on that dock since July 22nd.  The fact that it was still there is a testimony to the quality campers that frequent Summer Haven. Though I hesitated to tell this story as it highlights my forgetfulness, it deserves to be told for others to know that Summer Haven is a wonderful place to spend time and feel safe.

Enjoy the rest of the summer,

 Tim Slough
